ABOUT US
Miners Association Of Türkiye was the first organization established in 1948 to represent the public and private sector mining in Türkiye.
Miners Association Of Türkiye (TMD) was established in 1948 to pioneer the development of the mining industry and contribute to the Turkish economy, and was the first non-governmental organization established in the field of mining. With its wide network of members consisting of public and private sector companies, TMD represents a structure that realizes approximately 75 percent of the total mineral production (excluding natural stone) in our country today.
Our Association aims to maximize the economic, environmental and social impact of the sector by promoting sustainable, responsible and efficient mining. TMD continues to work effectively in many areas such as developing sectoral policies, carrying out advocacy activities, conducting research, preparing publications and raising public awareness.
Our Working Areas
Relations with Official Institutions and Legal Regulations: TMD monitors legal regulations and practices on behalf of the sector, develops solutions to sectoral problems and carries out effective cooperation with public institutions.
National and International Collaborations: National and international meetings are organized to strengthen the relations of the mining sector with the world mining, investment and financial circles and to support its compliance with international standards.
Information and Awareness Activities: TMD encourages information sharing and awareness raising in the sector by communicating the developments and good practices in the mining sector to its members. By organizing training programs and workshops, it helps its members adapt to current industry dynamics.
Responsible Mining Initiative
Miners Association Of Türkiye has launched the ‘Responsible Mining Initiative’ movement, taking into account the expectations and sensitivities of both society and the global public. This initiative aims to encourage our members to conduct their mining activities in an environmentally, socially and economically responsible manner.
Under the Responsible Mining Initiative;
- Principles of responsible and sustainable mining are defined,
- Standards and roadmaps have been established on how to conduct, measure and reward responsible mining.
By assuming a pioneering role in the mining sector both nationally and internationally, our Association continues its efforts to ensure sustainability and compliance with social sensitivities while supporting sectoral growth.
