Presidency: 1962-1963 / 1964-1967

Board Membership: He served as the President of our Association in two different periods, the first one term and the second two terms. He is a Mining Engineer and one of the two people who prepared the establishment laws of MTA and Etibank. He was the General Manager of MTA Institute between 1935-1939. He was the first General Manager of MTA and the second General Manager of Etibank. During his military service during World War II, he brought Ağaçlı Lignites on the Black Sea coast, which had previously been operated irregularly by some people, to the state. After World War II, he served as the Director of Balya Lead Mine operated by a French company. After leaving here, he served as the Director of Zonguldak (Hard Coal) Havza-i Fehmiye Havza-i Fehmiye for 1 year. As the General Manager of the French company called Fethiye Şirketi Madeniyyesi, which operated the chrome mines in Muğla, he served as the Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors of our Association for many years, representing the company.

Board Membership: 1948-1977 He served as a Board Member, Technical Consultant and President for 12 years in three separate periods in our Association. He was the General Manager of MTA Institute between 1939-1944. He provided Technical Supervision and Freelance Engineering Services in the Private Sector between 1971-1976.

Presidency: 1970-1972 / 1977-1989

Board Membership: 1964-1989 He graduated from Zonguldak Higher Mining Engineering School. He worked as an engineer in chrome mines at Paterson Company in the Southwest Anatolia Region. He served as a member of the Board of Directors and as the President of our Association together with the Chrome Manufacturers Committee for many years. He had chrome mines in the Köyceğiz region of Muğla. He was one of the owners of Koçtuğ Denizcilik Company, an important company in maritime transportation. He is a respected businessman nationwide and has brought many institutions to our country in the field of education. He ensured the establishment of Muğla University with his material and moral contributions. We can list the companies and institutions he founded nationwide as follows: Köyceğiz Chromes Inc. – Bursa Toros Chromes Inc. – Kıyra Chromes Co. Ltd. – BMC Industry and Trade Inc. (automotive) – Bandırma Banvit Co. (poultry farming) – Feed industry in Bandırma, Bursa, Bolu.

Presidency: 1989-1990

Board Membership: İrfan Haznedar, who was the Kütahya Deputy in the 1983-1990 and 1957-1960 terms, was elected as the Board Member of our Association, representing Mortaş Mining Ltd. Company, which is affiliated with the Yırcalı Group. He also served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board from time to time during the Sıtkı Koçman period.

Presidency: 1990 – 1992

Board Membership: 1990 – 1992 His family origin is from Kırklareli and he was born in Ağrı in 1935. He graduated from İstanbul “Vefa” High School and first entered the Faculty of Forestry. A year later, he transferred to İTÜ Faculty of Mining. He graduated as a Mining Engineer in 1961. He served as the President of the Student Union during his student years at İTÜ. He entered DSİ in 1961 and received drilling training in the USA between 1964 and 1965. He worked at DSİ until 1972 and established his own private company, DATA Drilling that year. He served as the Deputy Secretary General of the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality between 1992 and 1994 and carried out the planning of the İstanbul Metro. He served as the Secretary General of the İTÜ Foundation between 1994 and 2000 and as the General Manager of İş-Koray Company until his death. He taught Drilling Techniques at ITU Faculty of Mining between 1988 and 1998, and at Istanbul University Department of Mining Engineering between 2000 and 2008.

Presidency: 1991–2009

Board Membership: 1990–2009. Born in 1940 in Kırcaali, Bulgaria. Graduated from İstanbul Darüşşafaka High School in 1958 and İ.T.Ü. Faculty of Mines in 1963, İsmet Kasapoğlu is a Mining Engineer, M.S. He worked as Phosphate Exploration Camp Manager and Uludağ Wolfram Camp Manager at Etibank General Management between 1963-1971 and served as the Rights Branch Manager at the Mining Department of the Ministry between 1965-68. He worked as a Technical Supervisor and Freelance Engineering Service in the Private Sector between 1971-1976. İsmet Kasapoğlu, who worked as a manager at Etaş Mining Company (Lead, Zinc, Copper mine management and underground contracting services) from 1976 to 1985, served as the President of Darüşşafaka Sports Club between 1971-81 and as a member of the Board of Directors of Darüşşafaka under the Presidency of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Türkiye between 1977-93. He was a founding partner, manager and member of the Board of Directors at Soma Kömür İşletmeleri A.Ş. from 1985 to 2001 and took part in the founding of the Yurt Mining Development Foundation in the same year. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETİ-Soda A.Ş., a partnership of Etibank and Park Group, for a period. He served as the President of the Turkish Miners Association for 17 years. He continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mining Sector Presidents Council, established by the Council of Ministers in 2001, and the Chairman of the TOBB Türkiye Mining Assembly since 2006. He has been an Independent Board Member of Koza Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. since 2009.

Presidency: 2010 – 2014

Board Membership: Born in Artvin Yusufeli, 1990 – 2014, he graduated from Yusufeli Primary School, Erzurum High School and ITU Faculty of Mines (1973). He gained his first work experience at Tarko Mining Coal Enterprises in Çanakkale Çan. He worked as a technical supervisor and engineer in coal enterprises in the Thrace Region, primarily in Kemerburgaz, Ağaçlı and Yeniköy, Istanbul. He founded his own engineering company in 1980. He did underground coal mining in Edirne Uzunköprü from 1984 to 1986. In 1986, he founded and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sömaş Mining Construction Inc. Between 1989 and 1994, he worked with ITU Faculty of Mines on underground mining project preparations and coal enrichment projects at Milten. He was elected as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Miners Association in 1990. He served as the Association’s Secretary General and Vice President at different times. Mustafa Sönmez, who was a founding member of the (GEMAD) Young Mining Operators Association, which was established in 1991, also served as the Association’s Secretary General for a period. He was a founding member of the Fenerbahçe Rotary Club, which was established in 1994, and served as the Club President in the 1996-97 term. He served as the Founding Partner and Director of the Ökmer Mining and Construction Company, which was established in 1996. He withdrew from investment partnerships in 2003 and founded “Artı Danışmanlık Madencilik ve İnşaat San. Ve Tic. Ltd. Şti.” He currently continues his professional life in his own company. He served as a founding member, president, general secretary and representative in many NGOs: Founding Member of the Association of Mining Consulting Engineers (MADEN BİR) established in 2009, Member of the Board of Trustees of the (Y.M.G.V) Domestic Mining Development Foundation, Member of the TOBB Mining Assembly, and during his terms as Secretary General and Vice President of the Association, he worked as the sector and association representative for 2 terms in the Sectoral Associations Platform established within TÜSİAD. He undertook various duties in chambers, associations and foundations. He represented the association in the establishment of the Mining Sector Presidents Council Union and served as a Board Member on behalf of the association for 2 terms. He served as the Secretary General of the Association during the membership process of our Association (EUROMINES) to the European Miners Association and in its first General Assembly. He served as the President of the Board of Directors of our Association between 2010 and 2014.

Chairman of the Board of Directors: He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of our Association between 2014 and 2018. He is a Mining Engineer. He is one of the owners and managers of Madkim Mining Company.

He is a Mining Engineer and one of the managers of MRT Mining.
