Founded in 1948, the Turkish Miners Association (TMD) is the first organization in Turkey to officially represent public and private mining sectors.

For years, Turkey’s mining exports were regulated by TMD and its Chromium Producers’ Committee. After the Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association, established in 1976, assumed oversight of mining exports, TMD continued to function as a non-governmental organization in the industry. The Turkish Miners Association functions with the objectives of developing mining in Turkey, advocating the rights of its public and private-sector members, and improving the international relations of the Turkish mining sector.
